Ah, but the presumption of innocence doesn't necessitate convenience for the accused. It is a chance to defend yourself against the facts of the accusation without needing to actually defend yourself. The Police have to hold the burden of proof - you can simply say you weren't there, and they have to prove that you were. The fact that you have a valid alibi and witnesses is a bonus, but not necessary.
