Hypothetically, if a five year old were to stab another five year old at school with a pencil causing a wound and much distress in an unprovoked attack as the latest event in a history of unkind behaviour if not actual bullying,
a) what should the school do about it?
b) what should the parents of the victim do about it if they have already previously raised concerns with the school?
b) poke the pully with a pencil and ask what he/she feels like when it happens and does he/she think that other people like having pencils stuck in them?
b) ask the school (once again) to keep a special eye out. That or dress the victim with Doctor Martens and a crew cut - worked for me when I was 8.
2. Begin a hate campaign, starting by ringing doorbells in the middle of the night, progressing to silent phonecalls made from telephone boxes, and eventually onwards to derogatory graffiti and eventual kidnapping and possible murder.
Actually I don't know. I'm not a parent. I guess I would try to contact the bullies parents while on neutral ground (School?), and see from there.
2 - The parents should let the school know what has happened, despite them having raised concerns regarding that pupil previously. If it were me I'd point out that they are the childs guardian while they are at school and that the bullied childs' progress and wellbeing is being hindered by the bully.
Not that I really know much about this stuff, as I don't have a sprog!
Chances are they wont be, leaving the school to deal with it. Let's hope they will shall we?
However, the victim also needs to learn to stick up for himself.
It's a tough call, parenting, matey
Evidently, the mere fact of being stabbed is proof of a weak personality in some people's view. How did the hypothetical victim behave in this hypothetical case ? We don't know. So on what basis is the victim castigated ? Just a reflex response to avoid the need for thought I suspect ...
