LADY BRACKNELL:To lose one mother-in-law, Mr P, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two within a fortnight looks like carelessness.So, the first 7.4% of 2009 has been fairly rubbish by most people's standards. On 16 January Claire's stepmother died. Eleven days later on 27 January her natural mother died. There's obviously a lot of administrative tasks for us to sort out now on behalf of her mother, and we'll be going down to Cornwall for plural funerals within the next few weeks.
What's good (if anything can be classified as good at a time like this) is that this has meant we are re-establishing bonds with some of Claire's side of the family with whom contact has been lost for one reason or another for up to 32 years - significantly her brother which instantly provides another uncle for Sam. There really is something positive in everything that happens if you look hard enough.
