On this:
- Ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo is booked and £25 (small deposit) towards it paid.
- Ferry from Hook of Holland to Harwich some two weeks later is booked and £65 (total cost) is paid. It's interesting that it costs about a fifth the money to get into the UK as it does to get out of it.
- Necessary time off work is booked.
- Sam's holiday in sunny Suffolk and grandparent time is booked.
- Elly the cat's holiday in not so sunny cattery is booked.
- Map of Europe has been purchased. It looks awfully big. I think we'll be readdressing the route somewhat.
Not yet done things include:
- Working out finer details of the route
- Working out what we want to see and to drive along (apart from the Italian Job pass and the Monaco Grand Prix circuit)
- Booking hotels en route
I know it sounds horribly boring having a set itinery but I want to weigh this up against the stress of arriving somewhere late at night without anywhere to stay. I don't mind the odd night in a cramped MR2 but two weeks might be a bit extreme and end in divorce.
