- Carefully fill in an application form providing brilliant evidence gathered over your whole career to demonstrate why you are the correct person for the elevated position, and the other people going for the job are mere 'wannabe's.
- Read up all you can on the section you would be working in. Include business plans, vision statements and anything else available via any means possible.
- On the day of interview dress smartly in a suit, even going as far as wearing an ironed shirt.
- On the morning of the interview decide to check over your completed (and submitted) application form to make sure you've covered all the bases.
- Realise with horror that only half of the form has been submitted. The most important parts have somehow been truncated.
Stuff on permutations that I've been playing with:
- The two permutations of the digits 1 and 2 are 12 and 21. The average of these numbers is 16.5
- The 6 permutations of the digits 1,2,3 are 123, 132, 213, 231, 312 and 321. Their average is 222.
Extending this: | Digits | N(permutations) | Average | Ratio to previous | | 1 | 1 | 1.0 | | 1,2 | 2 | 16.5 | 16.500 | | 1,2,3 | 6 | 222.0 | 13.455 | | 1,2,3,4 | 24 | 2777.5 | 12.511 | | 1,2,3,4,5 | 120 | 33333.0 | 12.001 | | 1,2,3,4,5,6 | 720 | 388888.5 | 11.667 | | 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 | 5040 | 4444444.0 | 11.429 | | 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 | 40320 | 49999999.5 | 11.250 |
Interesting isn't it? I reckon there's a theorum in here waiting to get out somewhere.
Sam is really interested in Transformers and has lots of toys that change from being a car or lorry or another innocent-looking item into a death-dealing destructive super-killer robot of doom. Unfortunately the new Transformers film is rated as 12A so we can't take him to see that for another 6 years.
Haven't the film makers shot themselves in the foot a bit here? Surely nobody over the age of 11 is interested in Transformers any more? What age do people grow up?
On a related note, I myself am a Transformer. I turn into a driveway every single day.
