We made it! Sort of. Sadly, after doing a bit more planning than a quick glance at a map it turned out that to visit the bridge would have added 100 miles and an hour and a half to our already 8 hour drive. That, together with the dodgy tummy I came down with last night tipped the balance away from going that way and towards going the usual boring route. Still, we made it and have checked into a comfortable travel inn in the outskirts of Rennes. A 9 hour ferry crossing awaits us tomorrow.
The picture is a jar of something I bought as a present for Nathan next door. It looks delicious. Today we are packing up ready to leave early in the morning for the megametre drive up to Rennes. After an overnight stay there we'll be left with a short drive to St Malo and the ferry on Sunday. We are going to drive over the big new bridge tomorrow which should be good.
Another day, another beach. This one was quite a drive away, made all the worse for the amount of traffic encountered. We've been over here for more than two weeks, driven well over two thousand miles and encountered precisely zero traffic jams. Until today when we hit three. I think it's because it's now august and the whole of France has come down here on holiday.
