On the news this morning they were talking about the chocolate bar recall that Cadbury's have had to do as a result of the leaking pipe squirting salmonella over the Freddo bars as they came out of the frog machine.Â
According to BBC business analysts, recalling the one million bars affected is going to cost Cadbury's twenty five million pounds. My maths is pretty good and I make that £25 per chocolate bar, which seems like rather a lot.
Way back in [forgotten year] Perrier had to carry out a product recall as it transpired that their bottled water was actually a bit rubbish. They recalled 150 million bottles at a cost of £160 million. That works out at one pound and nearly seven pee per bottle. I'd've thought a bottle of Perrier weighs a lot more than a bar of chocolate, so why does it cost twenty three and a bit times more to recall a chocolate bar than a bottle of water?
I think I'll write to Cadburys and ask them.
